2 tools to speed up your elearning project

As I've recently gotten more involved with elearning course development and client support, I find myself looking for easier (and faster) tools for my elearning projects. I've discovered a myriad of tools that are easy, free, and produce quality output. Both of these tools have saved me time as I go about the task of producing content - and getting it out to folks in a timely manner.

Screenr

Love this tool! Screenr is a screen-recording tool that is completely web-based; no software to download, install or purchase. It is simple to use and produces quality .mp4 output, posts your screencasts, includes embed and linking info, is linked to Twitter, and can publish directly to YouTube. And did I mention it's free? It is the perfect tool when you want to communicate a 'how to' quickly. It doesn't have the capabilities of Captivate or Camtasia Studio - but it doesn't pretend to either.

Pixie

Pixie color picker

This is my favorite color-picker software. This is a tiny utility that lets you get the color values for any object on your screen. No more taking screenshots to match colors. After Pixie is installed and running, just point the cursor at an object or text and the colors are displayed in a tiny window in several popular formats (RGB, CMYK, HTML, hex, HSV). Pixie is a great little program that makes it easy for users of all levels to reproduce colors for use in any type of application.
