Add a Web Course Objective
Follow the instructions below to add a web course, including SCORM 1.2 or 2004SCORM is a standards based online course format, or watch the screencast.
- Click the Course Manager tab.
- Click .
- On the Course Settings page, Enter the Course Name, Description and Active Setting (usually set to No until the course is completed). Scroll down and click Add Course. Please note that Course Settings can be modified at any time.
- Click 'Add Web Training Task'. Now select the type of web content you'll upload based on the following options:
- Content Format: TrainCaster Layout 1Traditional layout, Previous and Next buttons at top and bottom; no side navigation., TrainCaster Layout 2Expanded course outline on the left, with bottom Previous and Next navigation buttons, SCORM 1.2Older version of SCORM, offering limited tracking information., or SCORM 2004Latest version of SCORM with detailed tracking information..
:: Layout (TrainCaster format only): Sequential or Non-Sequential. For sequential courses, trainees are required to view all of the course materials in a specific order. Non-sequential courses allow trainees to view the course materials in any order, but they must complete all required quizzes in order to complete the course.
:: Header (TrainCaster format only). This setting indicates whether or not this course should display the standard TrainCaster header when a trainee is taking the course. To show the header, select YES. To use the header area of the page to display content rather than the graphic image, select NO. (The header area is above the black navigation bar at the top of the page.)
:: Print Course Content (TrainCaster format only). If you would like to allow trainees to print out the course content for review or reference, select yes. - Can Fail Course. This setting lets you control whether or not a trainee can fail a course. If set to NO, a trainee MUST pass all required quizzes before progressing through the course.
- No Credit Attempts. Controls whether or not a trainee can take the course for no credit. You can also specify that the trainee can review the material for no credit ONLY if s/he has already successfully completed the course.

Advanced course settings
Course Code: The course code is an optional identifier that can be used to group courses together on reports. Use it to indicate a particular type of training (SAF - a designation for safety training) followed by a numeric code (101 - indicates the level of the training).
Category: The course category is an optional course grouping. It is used to group courses together in the course catalog and on reports. It is an organizational tool only.
Course Instructor E-mail Address: Optional. Use this field to designate the contact person for the course. Use commas to separate multiple email addresses.
Course Credits/Hours: Optional. Enter the number of credits/hours granted for successful completion of this course.
Approximate Web Training Duration: Optional. Use this field to indicate how long this training should take to complete.
On-the-Job Training: Select 'Yes' if this course is considered on-the-job training.
Display Score: This setting determines whether or not scores will be displayed on reports. If set to 'No', no scores will be shown on reports. There will be a pass/fail indictor only.
Certificate of Completion: This setting controls whether or not trainees' receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.
Discussion Forum: To include a discussion forum in your course, select 'Yes'.
In Course Catalog: To include the course in the catalog available to trainees, select 'Yes'.
